My Sailors are about 100 feet in The Lion King Mufasa shirt front of me as we approach the building. There is a Sergeant Major standing outside the door having a smoke. By the time I get to the door all of my guys are inside. The Sergeant Major snaps off a salute and holds the door open for me. I return the salute and in typical Mustang fashion tell him, “Thanks Sergeant Major but you didn’t have to do that. I work for a living.” I about fell over I was laughing so hard. Dude was about my age but in that moment he was every Sergeant Major speaking from the depths of time “instructing a junior officer.” I still laugh every time I think of it.

I was fired from my first full The Lion King Mufasa shirt time job. It was a small computer service bureau. Since I had been doing a great job I was a bit surprised. I shouldn’t have been. They told him no, they couldn’t afford it. A few weeks later he announced he would be leaving for a new job. At this point they started to throw money at him to have him stay. He obviously was more valuable to them than they wanted to pay for. This must have been a painful decision on the part of the president and VP.
